thought process: C'mon through...

Here's a post on my painting/drafting process. It involves alot of random changes to the environment. I usually start off with lines, just doodling etc. Here's my initial sketch, of a girl, drowning? (but her hair is.. not floating IDUNO.) k moving on.

 Tonal values... using black and white i guess? attempt at story

 "Screw composition. I'll do what i want"-phase.

 alot more symbolizm and wtf moments brought out by listening to good music.

Reasons for change.

-her hair is a mobius. i thought it was neato, but sometimes it's good to save neato ideas for their own neato pictures. *adds this to the vault*

-being impaled is a bit too gorey, and ya.

And then final er composition? and maybe colour scheme. picture is still evolving. lets hope i can nurture it into something great :)

*this is also called, screw it, I'll revert to something safe. like, a jungle or trees. yes. foliage = less perspective and more mindless auto pilot detailed rendering



What do you think? Which one is the most. valuable?

I'll try to finish this along with "Fairy Queen" that is, if my imac doesn't implode on me, the finder is like freezing atm -oh, and I've just restarted everything.

Anyways, this goofy/cute chicken is my character for a sequence of poses for character class : D I'll scan more of him and his adventures learning how to fly laterrrron. <3

 

Derping around with hair and face LOL I really do want to one day cg a humanly accurate proportioned face, but I just can't bring myself to stray away from my ideals. Ahh baby faced girls with huge foreheads, doe eyes, round lips and tiny noses. It's just so nice looking, but as of now my knowlege of planes on the human face is lacking orz. Hopefully I'll learn it later this semester when we do more portraits in life drawing class : D
I can think in planes when it comes to hair or clothing or any other objects except for the face and thighs... time to do more studying, perhaps actually purchasing anatomy books will be the first step lol.

Second semester is off to a great start! I'm doing well in all my classes, I have great stuff in my sketchbook and have found a good niche at school to just relax and hang out with. =3= I can now geek out with out fear! huzzay! LOL
I'll scan more drawings from my books eventually, and update with some life drawing too :)

btw I make my own bento lunch everyday! lost 5 pounds, have good sleep, and thinner legs now and made a very good lifestyle schedule! 2011 seems to be a great year so far!

Another wip shot of Fairy Queen!~ I'm actually getting quite attached to this piece :) i'm going to paint bits at a time, and actually reference this time! lol I want to really polish this one up, so don't expect alot of other work for a bit. It seems jungle/nature bgs are my favourite to paint because of all the many different shadows and objects in it.

Playing D&D through type in Skype LOLLLERORZ.

first time D&D, I enjoyed it. MY FRIENDS ARE COOL. He wrote awesome story, i like how they play more story oriented :D it's interesting as the journey folds out! Great ideas for comics and such LOL. OTL -NERD- But yea, I was half painting and half playing, all while enjoying the awesome fantasy-ambience music friend put on through skype (friends in NYC so damn far away `A`)

I find that the right kind of music really gets me into good painting sessions :D But I'm a girl of many different tastes! so like. If I listen to santogold/deadmaus/80kidz/daftpunk/ my artwork looks more like this:

Fairy Queen +obtained armour

 

Update 01.05.11: Added orange fungi for warm accents, the majority of the forest is mapped out. I'm approaching this painting quite differently than my usual ones. For one. I actually have a battle plan to follow LOL. It lies in the fudamental rule of painting the bg first. I'm liking how pale the fairy queen's skin is in comparison to all the deeply saturated colours of her surroundings. At this point, I'm not too sure about the additional fairy servants. Once they're toned in, it'll probably act as several other focal points, which will distract from the face of the large fairy queen. :\ 

oh wat do. I'm pretty satisfied with the bg so far. But GODDAMN my imac's opperating system is too old for CS5 (and live stream programs) fffffff so i'm still chugging along with my ancient painter 3. Experimented with watercolour layers and oil colours and pastels all in the tree bark/lineart/shadows. And I finally learned how to "merge" layers using that blasted program =_=

01.04.11 lol just complicated painting TREMENDOUSLY orz orz close-ups Now my fairy queen is all decked out in mythrill armour and mini fairy servants! loooooooool It's just so ironic how this started out as a sexy demonic overlord, I guess the red eyes are kinda left overs of that! Also, snake boa is sexy as hell.
